Movement Flow
Hi Everyone, So I thought I’d share this video of just one variation of a mobility/core activating sequence I use during my non training (lower Intensity) days or alternatively as a pre workout warm up sequence on specific training days (moderate to high intensity). Apologies for the quality🙈 but I didn’t have my usual camera 📷with me on this trip as I wasn’t planning on recording anything whilst away. Adjust the exercises to suit your current level based on flexibility, range of motion capabilities… I personally have my own restrictions that I am working on with regards my flexibility which is improving. My techniques are also getting better but far from perfect but that is the beauty of striving for physical improvements… You are only looking to better yourself, so give these a try and enjoy. The purpose of an efficient Mobility Flow Movement practise should be to restore balance and harmony within the human body. As we partake in resistance and bodyweight training protocals for example to improve strength and movement efficiency we must be aware that the muscles are constantly exposed to varying degrees of tensioning which over time will lead to a shortening inhibitory response adaptation for your body. This can create dysfunction through movement and postural issues may arise also, not to mention the stress response of your body being over stimulated. Applying a well rounded mobility and stretching routine to compliment your resistance training focus will improve the elasticity within the muscle belly and create an appropriate lengthening of tissues to support better postural adaptations and length tension relationship balance. I know there are a lot of followers here that may have been led to believe that Yoga for example creates flimsy structures and inefficient movement…. this could arguably be true to some practitioners if that is all they practise (based on the SAID principle… Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands) but it is also questionable and narrow minded to perceive that everybody who practises such movements will make themselves ‘flimsy’. The other side of the coin is that too much tensioning without lengthening can create an almost ‘wooden/stiff’ structure that does not absorb shock very well and is just as much at risk of injury if elastic tension balance is not obtained throughout. At Titanium Functional Movements I do not like to conform to a ‘One approach Fits all’ rule because in my opinion it just doesn’t exist. Yes some programs are more effective than others and there are some very questionable training modalities out there but Instead of dismissing everything at source I like to learn from all aspects of Movement based training to be able to find the answers required to bring my own body and that of my clients into well rounded, mobile, strong, adaptable, pain free, highly sustainable and a high level performance capable human being. To me the true essence of Functionality is the ability to move well and adapt to the environment around us whilst aiming for optimal homeostasis. Please ‘Like and Share’
